Where do I start? How do I use the AI?

To get started and best learn the AI in depth, we recommend all users start with the Getting Started Guide and the in-depth User Guide.

I installed the extension, but can’t see the icon. What should I do?

Ensure that the extension is enabled in chrome://extensions. If the icon is still not visible, it might be hidden in the Chrome menu (three vertical dots on the top right of the browser). From there, you can pin the extension to your toolbar for easy access.

I bought a subscription, but it still says I don’t have a valid subscription. What should I do?

If you encounter this issue, the first step is to log out of your account and then log back in. This helps to ensure that your subscription status is correctly synced and updated in the system. Contact Support if this doesn’t resolve the issue.

What happened to McGraw Hill Smartbook support?

Support for McGraw Hill Smartbooks has ended due to legal reasons. We appreciate your understanding and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

How does the Apex Vision AI Chrome extension work?

Our Chrome extension utilizes advanced AI algorithms to analyze multiple-choice questions and provide accurate answers in real-time. Simply activate the extension, click on “Get Answer,” and our system will generate the solution for you.

Is Apex Vision AI detectable?

No, it isn’t. Apex Vision AI operates discreetly within the confines of your browser, without interacting with websites in a way that’s detectable. It simply enhances your study sessions by providing AI-generated answers and study tips when you request them, ensuring your usage remains private and secure.

Is the extension detectable by Canvas?

We have spent significant time developing and testing on the Canvas platform using a Canvas Teacher account to ensure that our extension is not detectable. However, we advise against submitting quizzes or tests too quickly, as completing them in an unusually short time might raise red flags.

How do I hide the on-screen Canvas / Smartbook buttons?
  1. Open the Apex Vision AI extension settings.
  2. Locate the “Hide On-Screen Buttons” option.
  3. Toggle the switch to enable this feature. This will hide the on-screen buttons, allowing you to use the extension discreetly. You can also toggle “Show On-Screen Buttons” to revert this setting.
Can the extension help with essay questions?

While our AI is primarily designed for multiple-choice questions, it can offer assistance and guidance on essay & short answer questions through use of our versatile side-panel.

Why am I seeing a “No valid subscription” error?

This error indicates that your current subscription is either expired or invalid. Please check your subscription status or contact our support for further assistance.

I pressed the “Get Answer” button, but nothing happened. Why?

This could be due to several reasons:

  • Check your internet connection.
  • Ensure that your subscription is valid.
  • If you’re still facing the issue, please try refreshing the page or restarting the browser and accessing the extension again.
Why is the AI giving inaccurate answers sometimes?

Our AI is currently about generally 81% accurate and we are continuously working to improve it through advanced machine learning techniques. We aim to enhance its accuracy and reliability to provide you with the best possible assistance in your studies.

How accurate are the answers provided by the AI, and does accuracy vary between different subscription plans?

The accuracy of the answers provided by our AI varies across different subscription plans due to the use of distinct AI models, each tailored to handle a variety of subjects and complexities. Here is a breakdown of the accuracy rates for our current subscription plans:

  • Knowledge Kickstart: Approximately 70% accuracy, ideal for basic questions and topics.
  • Savvy Scholar: About 81% accuracy, suited for more in-depth topics or advanced material.
  • Mastermind: Approximately 89% accuracy, recommended for precise answers across a wide range of challenging subjects.

It’s important to note that the overall effectiveness of the AI in providing accurate answers also depends on how questions are presented.

What should I do if a quiz or exam page has multiple questions displayed, and how does the AI handle such scenarios?

When facing pages that display multiple questions at once, our AI tool is designed to focus and provide answers one question at a time to ensure accuracy and relevancy. Here are tips to maximize the AI’s effectiveness in these situations:

  • Zoom In to Isolate a Question: If a page contains several questions, you can increase the AI’s focus and accuracy by zooming into the page so that only one question is visible on your screen at a time. This can typically be done by pressing Ctrl + + (Windows) or Command + + (Mac) to zoom in, and Ctrl + - or Command + - to zoom out. Adjusting the zoom helps the AI to clearly identify and concentrate on providing an answer to the question displayed.
The extension is behaving erratically. How can I reset it?

You can try logging out and logging back in. If the issue persists, consider reinstalling the extension. Remember to report any persistent issues to our support team.

Sometimes the extension takes longer than usual to provide a response. Why is that?

Response time can vary based on several factors:

  • Server load: If many users are accessing the service simultaneously, there might be slight delays.
  • Internet speed: Slow internet connections can affect the response time.
  • Complexity of the query: Some questions require more in-depth analysis, leading to longer processing times.

Limitations

What are Apex Vision AI’s limitations?

Apex Vision AI aims for accuracy across various subjects but has limitations. Math and complex calculations are limited for accuracy, especially for subscription models below the Mastermind tier.

Are there any subjects the AI cannot help with?

While Apex Vision AI covers a broad range of subjects including math, science, and English, it may not be as effective for highly specialized or advanced subjects outside of its core focus areas.

Account & Data

How do I cancel my subscription?

To cancel your subscription, simply go to the ‘My Account’ tab in the top menu navigation. Click on ‘Subscription,’ then select ‘View’ on your active subscription and press ‘Cancel Subscription.’ This will initiate the cancellation process for your subscription.

How do I upgrade or downgrade my subscription?

To upgrade your subscription, click Upgrade or Downgrade, or simply go to the ‘My Account’ tab in the top menu navigation. Click on ‘Subscription,’ then select ‘View’ on your active subscription and press ‘Upgrade or Downgrade.’ This will take you to a page to switch subscriptions. Your existing subscription price will be prorated to your upgraded total price.

How do I logout of the extension?

Click on the extension icon, and you will see a “Logout” button. Clicking on this will log you out.

Is my data safe? What do you do with my chat responses?

Your data and privacy are of utmost importance to us. The chat responses are not stored permanently and are not used for any other purpose. Our goal is to provide a seamless and private experience for our users.

I want to delete my account and all associated data. How can I do that?

Please contact our support team with your request, and they will guide you through the process.
