What is CanvasPass?

CanvasPass is a Chrome extension that injects AI-generated answers into Canvas LMS quizzes. It supports Canvas only — both Classic Quizzes and New Quizzes — and its own site lists Blooket, Kahoot, Quizizz and IXL as planned rather than released. It advertises a Fast Mode for multiple-choice and true/false questions and a Smart Mode for calculations and essays, and claims answers in under two seconds.

It is Chrome-only. There is no mobile app.

What is Apex Vision AI?

Apex Vision AI is an AI study assistant that runs as a Chrome extension and as iOS and Android apps. It reads the question already open on your screen — including multiple-choice options, diagrams and images — and returns a step-by-step explanation rather than only a final answer. It works across Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, Top Hat and most web-based quiz interfaces, and includes a study guide generator, flashcard maker, practice exam generator, math solver and essay drafting tools.

What is the biggest difference between them?

Scope. CanvasPass is a single-LMS tool: it does one thing, inside Canvas, on desktop Chrome. Apex Vision AI is a general study assistant that works across several learning platforms, on phones as well as laptops, and includes tools for revision rather than only for answering a question in front of you.

If every course you take runs on Canvas and you only ever study at a laptop, that narrower scope may not cost you anything. If you have a Blackboard or Moodle course, or you revise from your phone, CanvasPass will not cover it.

How do the free tiers compare?

This is the sharpest difference in the table. CanvasPass gives 5 questions per week. Apex Vision AI gives 30 requests per day, which is roughly 40 times more, and neither requires a card. If you want to genuinely test a tool against a real assignment before paying, five questions a week is not enough to form a judgement.

Which one is cheaper?

CanvasPass is cheaper at every published tier: $5/mo for 800 credits against Apex's $7.99/mo for 500 requests, and $10/mo for 1,500 credits against Apex's $14.99/mo for 1,000. If price per question is your only criterion and Canvas is your only platform, CanvasPass wins on that number.

What the price does not include is the rest: mobile access, non-Canvas courses, and the study-tool suite. Whether that gap matters depends on how you actually study.

What about proctoring and academic integrity?

This is where the two products differ most, and it is worth being direct about it.

CanvasPass advertises a Tab-Switch Blocker, a Kiosk Spoof and a Stealth Mode that hides its interface. Those are features designed to defeat exam supervision. Apex Vision AI does not build them, and does not support use during proctored assessments.

That is a real product difference, not marketing positioning. Using software that is explicitly designed to circumvent proctoring is treated as academic misconduct at most institutions, and the consequences fall on the student, not the vendor. Which one is more accurate?

Neither product publishes an independent benchmark, so claims in either direction are unverifiable. CanvasPass advertises sub-two-second answers; speed is not accuracy. Apex Vision AI publishes its testing methodology and known failure modes on the accuracy page, which lets you judge the claim rather than take it on trust.

Both are built on general-purpose language models. Both get multi-step calculations and edition-specific textbook questions wrong often enough that you should check the output before relying on it.

When should you choose CanvasPass instead?

Choose CanvasPass if all of your coursework is in Canvas, you work only on a desktop, you want the lowest monthly price, and you do not need study or revision tools. On those constraints it is a cheaper, more focused product.

When should you choose Apex Vision AI instead?

Choose Apex Vision AI if you have courses on more than one platform, if you want to study from your phone, if you want explanations you can revise from rather than answers alone, if you want a free tier large enough to actually evaluate, or if you would rather not install something that markets proctoring-evasion features.
